Using printed ephemera connected with his work as a freelance photographer for the National press, Koppel uses tickets, press passes, photo passes and invitations to merge photography and printed ephemera to create an autobiographical portrait of some of rocks greatest stars. A blue triangular pass to photograph Bowie in concert, a ticket to see him in the US and a VIP pass from his Glass Spider Tour, all used to identify Koppel as a member of the press are merged with a black and white portrait of Bowie, taken leaving London's Legends Nightclub to create a unique portrait of David Bowie, entitled 'The Joker'.
All prints are embossed with the photographers stamp, numbered and signed by the photographer David Koppel in pencil on lower right margin.
